The snow is deep and beautiful and most importantly untouched. You know we have featured Michigan’s U.P.   many times over the years in all of its wonderful seasons, but none is more beautiful and serene than winter. We did our first show in Schoolcraft County over 20 years ago and almost nothing has changed. It is still a Great Getaway for an outdoor adventure.  More snow! Less people!

This trip would have everything the winter enthusiast searches for. We would go back into the National Forest to snowshoe the pine martin run, a noted hiking area in the summer and a pristine snowshoe area in the winter. Also, we head back to Manistique where we rediscover a hiking trail from our past. Called the environmental lab, it was designed to be a teaching area on the environment. It is an interpretive trail full of surprises.

What would a winter trip to the U.P. be with out some snowmobiling? We find the best and least used trails up north and then stop at a famous north woods watering hole, the Jack Pine. And of course what would any trip to this area be like without a stop at the largest mineral spring in Michigan, Big Springs.
